UB Orientation Checklist

New Student Checklist

Welcome to the UB Family. After paying your tuition deposit and housing deposit (if you want to live on campus), follow these steps to get started at UB. Print off this checklist to use as a guide to help you through the process.

If you haven’t deposited, please pay your tuition and/or housing deposit before continuing. If you plan to live on campus, you must also complete the Housing Preference Questionnaire.

Get Started (after submitting your deposit)

_____  Submit your Orientation Data Form and select your orientation date. Please note: this is the first step in registering for classes. You can also register your parents and/or family member for Parent and Family orientation at the same time.

_____  Submit your immunization records to Student Health Services. UB students will not be allowed to register for classes until they have fulfilled these requirements. Visit health.buffalo.edu/immunization.php.

_____  Check your financial aid status in HUB Student Center

_____  Prepare for course registration (procedures will vary by advising unit)

_____  Send a Photo for your UB Card

_____  First-Year Students: Complete the New Student Survey

_____  Review Meal Plans

_____  Accept or decline Student Medical Insurance coverage (beginning early July). Acceptance is automatic (for full-time domestic students and all international students) unless waived online.

_____  Review your course schedule

_____  Register for your Parking Permit to park on campus in the fall or/spring

_____  Watch for Financial Aid award notice and accept

_____  Participate in Orientation

_____  Make arrangements to have high school, college, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate and/or CLEP transcripts sent. (All students must submit high school transcripts.)

_____  Pay Tuition Bill

_____  Complete AlcoholEDU

_____  Receive your Housing Assignment

_____  Find roommates and friends — find your roommate’s email address on the UB directory

_____  Contact your roommate to coordinate items

Planning to Commute?

_____  Get familiar with services specially designed for commuter students

_____  Find your way around campus

For Everyone:

_____  Affirm awareness of UB’s rules and regulations by accessing the Need to Know Section of MYUB

_____  Update your emergency contact information in your HUB.

_____  Sign up for UB Emergency Text Messaging.

_____  Learn about disability services and accommodations

_____  Read about your privacy rights and decide whether to authorize release of your Student Directory info (PDF file).

_____  Order your textbooks! The book store will deliver your books to the mailroom of your residence halls.

_____  Attend first day of class on August 27, 2012.
